Biography :)

Below is a long and short bio used for social networking sites.

Long bio:

"Someone who wants to make a difference in the world."  That is something that describes Hailey Freeman, a small town girl from Corunna, Michigan.  She has always felt a need to do things hands on and create a difference in the world in some way.  Following her father's footsteps, she decided in her junior year of high school to follow her dream to make a difference, deciding to plan a career in Civil Engineering.  In the fall of 2007 she began her trek to create a difference when she began attending Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan http://www.mtu.edu/.

Hailey wasn't sure at first if this career would fit her personality and had been told by a business man at a interview prep dinner her first year that civil engineering was not a career for a woman and that she wouldn't succeed. Well, after that comment, Hailey decided she would prove him wrong and go into a career mainly dominated by men and show them exactly what she could do. She proved this many times as Hailey has held two internships in the engineering field.  She has worked for Global Environmental in Flint, Michigan http://www.globaleei.com/.  She also worked as an engineering intern inspecting construction operations in Shiawassee County.   Hailey  has been offered the engineering position again for the summer of 2010 at the Shiawassee County Road Commission http://www.shiawasseeroads.com/

Hailey is very passionate about what she wants to accomplish in life and so far has succeeded in accomplishing many of her goals.  She loves being able to watch and learn on the job and then put what she has learned to use in her schooling and work experience.  Making a difference is easy when you are passionate about what you want to do in life.

Short Bio:
Hailey Freeman, a third year Civil Engineering student at Michigan Tech, is very hands on, goal orientated, and passionate about wanting to make a difference in the world.

Cooking: A Passion that can be creative :)

I have an extraordinary passion: Cooking!  I have always cooked, and to admit, haven't been that good at it, but since I have moved into my own house, it has all changed.  I don't have my mom there to cook for me or the residence hall to prepare food.  I have to prepare it by myself.  So thats were my cooking passion began.

I started out by copying some of my favorite and easy recipes from my mom's cookbook.  I am a busy college student so simple and easy was the way to go.  But after cooking my way through my first semester in my own house, I began to notice a creative way to spend some free time or to relax after a long day.

I began watching Food Network all the time.  I would watch the cooking shows and think about what I could change to make the recipe more me.  I love the shows and cooking episodes from the many cooks and chefs on the network, but one person stood out. Rachel Ray!  She had a way of cooking that was really interesting to watch and try to recreate.  So I went and bought one of her famous cookbooks and began to cook.

Since then, I have become to realize this is something I really enjoy doing.  I go home on vacations and cook for my family and friends.  I cook for my boyfriend when he visits and try to come up with new recipes on my own.  I truly enjoy cooking and want to continue.  I plan, some time in the near future, to put together all of my recipes in a cookbook and share it with students like me.

I think cooking has helped me get through some tough times this year.  Rachel Ray is my role model and has helped me realize and embrace my true passion-cooking!
